The Software Engineering Department is a discipline that covers all studies related to the design, project design, development, production, operation and maintenance of software as an engineering branch. In addition, planning, management, support and training activities for production also have an important position within the scope of software engineering. Software engineering is intertwined with disciplines such as industry, computer science and mathematics, and is a brand new branch of engineering with its specific subjects. Software engineers produce, test, install and manage software systems designed and developed in accordance with engineering disciplines for the ever-evolving and growing IT sector.

Our faculty is located in Ballıca Campus, which is located on the coastal part of Ondokuz Mayıs (locally known as Engiz) district on the Samsun-Bafra highway. It is 20 km from Bafra, 25 km from Atakum and 35 km from Ilkadim. The 22.5 km coast of 19 May to the Black Sea (19 May Beach 3.5 km, Dereköy Town Beach 7 km, Yörükler Town The coast is 12 km) and a significant part of the natural Fish Lakes formed in the Kızılırmak Delta are located within the boundaries of the district. The “Bird Paradise”, where 323 bird species can be seen throughout the year, is in this area.
Our department’s rich academic staff consists of academically successful, knowledgeable and devoted lecturers. Classroom, canteen, laboratory physical environments are up-to-date and comfortable. Our faculty students are encouraged to take part in club activities and participate in social and artistic activities such as music, sports and theater, while developing their current knowledge, research, analysis, interpretation and presentation skills, and opportunities are offered to improve their personal and social skills.

Our curriculum, which we have created in order to achieve the goals of our department, covers the topics discussed and determined by the current international standards organization ISO and IEEE. Students of our department have the right to graduate with a double diploma by applying to the double major program in other engineering programs of our university.
We send our students who have a high grade point average and who do not have a low-level course to the Workplace Training program in the 8th Semester. In this context, our students will be able to develop themselves practically in industrial organizations, and they will have the experience of putting into practice what they have learned throughout their education life.
The title of SOFTWARE ENGINEER is given to students who successfully complete all of the courses available in the program of our department (for a total of 240 ECTS), have a grade point average of at least 2.0 out of 4.00, successfully complete the graduation work, and get a passing grade from the internship report they prepared with their professional internship.
